Throatcoat

The weather is absolutely vile, and has been for a while. Here’s a recipe for a drink which will see off the beginnings of a sore throat in bad weather.

You’ll need:

garlic

ginger

some liquor

honey

1. Take a half a teaspoonful of chopped, crushed garlic. I use the paste because it’s so easy.

2. Add two teaspoonfuls of freshly chopped and crushed ginger.

3. Add in a teaspoonful of honey. At the moment I have a big jar of raw honey from Portugal.

4. Add hot water.

5. Give it all a good mix.

6. Add in a splash of liquor of your choice. I always use home-brewed Cape Verdean grogo (sugar cane liquor, a type of aguardente). Gives it that warming kick.

7. Enjoy!
